View From the Opposition: Norwich City

Derby play Norwich on Saturday so we thought we’d get the opinion of two Canaries fans, Chris Brown & NorwichCityBlog to see how they fancy their chances!

12th Ram:  Can you summarise your start to the season? On target?

CB: A bumpy start to the season which has now smoothed up. Defensively we were poor in our opening games and it took the first international break to solidify and find the right back four. I think we’re now on target after picking up good wins against Sheffield United, Reading and Middlesborough, and of course the win at Ipswich.

NCB: It’s been a great start to the season on reflection, after a pretty poor start to the season and shipping goals for fun the manager has responded with an 8 unbeaten run conceding just 2 goals. With the turn around if the club went through this year, playoffs must have been the best most of could hope for and now in 6th I think we are on target for sure.

12th Ram:
Where do you think you’ll end up this season?

CB: I’d be incredibly disappointed if we don’t reach the top 6. We have a good squad after clearing out a lot of dead wood. This is also our last season of parachute payments, and we need promotion.

NCB: There is a really good team sprit building here at the moment, it feels like the era or promotions under lambert, I still think automatic would be a huge ask with our budget but in the playoffs is within reach

12th Ram: One player to look out for?

CB: James Maddison because of his current form and creativity, but Tom Trybull has to be up there – an absolute steal of a player, who has settled into our midfield really well, winning balls out of nowhere, and not giving the ball away either.

NCB:  James Maddison – player with a premier league future without doubt, always seems to find a yard of space, very clever & if he gets a ta d around the box he’s clinical ( he takes free kicks too)

12th Ram: What do you think of Derby? Will they be a test for Norwich?

CB: Derby have a great Championship squad – not in a bad way either. Bent, Martin, Anya, Vydra, Lawrence, Weimann and Huddlestone are all great players which will make a difference for Derby this season. Derby had a bit of a rocky September, and a good October so far; I think it’ll be a good match up between both sides.

NCB: Derby are a strong side full of championship and premier league experience, on there say they can be a real top side, unfortunately for derby they have struggled to maintain that for long enough periods over the past few years. Unfortunately for norwich, derby are in good form at present and will offer a big test for a city side who seem to get more joy on the road.

12th Ram: Prediction?

CB: I’ve gone for a 1-0 Norwich win in my Super 6, so i’ll say the same here. Defensively we’ve been strong and have been keeping clean sheets. But my only concern is how tired our squad will be after 90 minutes on Sunday and 120 minutes on Tuesday night.

NCB: 1-1

We know that the sqaud has played a lot of football in the last 7 days, we hope that the way in which they played against Arsenal will give them added drive for the Derby match. Only time will tell?
